I’m amused cause.. I’m not from the US, so for the longest time I would watch people go “OMG!” and I had no idea why this guy is famous or what for? So I was just sat there going O.o “What is wrong with you?”

(I’ve used the power of google to find out about his claim to fame and fortune and science stuff)

#but other tumblr hoppers have said that he is very uncomfortable with fangirling

I didn’t know that, so if I ever see him in the scene (he’s been said to be seen at DCLX, and that’s one I attend) I will keep that in mind.

He was an icon for science, growing up in the US public school system. I really respect all he’s done for expanding science and sparking interest in youth- but had no idea he also swing dances!

Thanks for the information about how he feels about fangirling!

(I think I’ve read that about him. But then, I don’t think he’d mind if you ask him to dance and start a conversation? I guess it’s just awful to be asked for photos and gushed at when you’re trying to dance. (Same code of behavior as with well-known and much admired instructors, I guess?)

If you have married an office worker, not travelled to two different continents, become content with a retail job, stopped being poly (unless there’s a REALLY GOOD REASON) or decided that, no, there’s nothing you can do to fix anything ever, I will be really disappointed in you.

And there is nothing worse than twenty-year-old me pouting at me. The guilt complex will stick for weeks.
